Now I'm totally flummoxed.
I have two brand new, identical 20 GB Maxtor drives (on sale currently at
CompUSA for $50 after rebate, BTW). I install one where the original Raq
Seagate was, the other with a separate cable to the 2nd IDE channel. Both
drives configured as "master" on their respective channels.
With the 4r restore disk running, the 3i box netboots properly, and the LCD
screen says "testing manufacturer config", followed by "formatting
disk" and a couple of other quick messages, then, very rapidly, "shutting
down mail server" and "REBOOTING".... and then it tries to reboot, and just
hangs.
But if I use the 4i disk, it works fine, partitions the disk, installs the
software, and does everything it's supposed to do.
I would think that maybe the CD was defective burned from the ISO, but for
the fact that the operation seems to fail at the moment the software is
trying to format the drives.
Any ideas?
