I am about to use CMU for some selective site migration from a RAQ3 to an
RAQ4. My assumption is that if I have problems, the problems will likely be
limited to the indiviual site and won't mess up anything else on the target
server. If anyone has had other experience, I'd like to know. (Problems I
could find from other posts seemed to relate more to full server migrations)
My main question is this: The target server is located in a different
location with different IPs. My assumption is that if I migrate a site,
once imported to the new server it will show the same IP number as the
source machine. So I figure I can simply then go into site settings and
change the IP to an address on the new server. I can't really imagine that
there would be a problem. The only thing that makes me ask a question about
this is that the Troubleshooting Tips section of the manual has a note about
changing the IP address before importing the destination. It then gives an
explanation about modifying a line in the cmu.xml file. I'd rather avoid
that if possible, and I don't really see the reason for it. So I just want
to make sure that there is no problem in importing a site that will
initially have an incorrect IP number.
