RE: [cobalt-users] Problem with installing Restore CD on RAQ Ser ver

What I would do is to turn the unit OFF, plug up a null modem cable (9.99 at
your local comp store ... NOT a straight thru serial cable), into com port 1
on the cobalt, and then using hyper term (or your favorite term emulator)
set it to: 115200 8/n/1 and watch the boot up sequence, see where it is
failing. That way you know what to do next. If you get any type of kernel
panic (I get those) you probably dropped the wrong OS on to it and will need
to redownload the right now. It usually says something like can't find
/etc/mtab or something similar about mounting the root partition. If you
can't console, or get the console to work with your pc/lap top, just try to
reload the software again, and watch your LCD as it is loading to see what
is going on.

Hi G.,

Congratulations! You got that far.. we'll help get you on your way. I would
suggest you verify that you have installed the proper OS (verify the .iso
image you created the CD with was for the right RaQ). I'm not sure what
else to suggest, but others will pie in soon, I would expect.

Glenn
