A problem is defined as something that stops you doing something. What can
the GUI not do that its supposed to, that is caused by postgressql - nothing
to my knowledge. If it was a vulnerability that made your RaQ more hackable
then yes Cobalt should upgrade it but from their point of view it does the
job they want it to do, its not there for you its for the GUI and nothing
else

Why would/should there be an upgrade to postgres - it is used by the Cobalt
GUI and if you are wise you wouldn't touch it with anything else its
actually coded to try and stop you connecting to it. If you want the latest
and greatest then download and install to another location that way you
don't screw up the GUI.

The cobalt is supposed to be an appliance as Thom from baltimore likens it
to a washing machine - admittedly you would have had a repairman out after
the OSupdate 2.0 to allow you to actually use washing powder.

Its been said on the list before if you want the latest and possibly buggy
code then get a 1u server and build your own RedHat or other OS add in the
software you want. The RaQ wasn't designed for you. It has even been
demonstrated that you can run straight Redhat on a cobalt box if you like
the hardware but its an expensive way to go as the Cobalt is priced to come
with all that GUI stuff and ease of use that helps non sysadmins get into
the game.

There are more important issues for Cobalt to fix - issues that actually do
stop people using their RaQ as it was sold:

Backup as in the GUI doesn't work full stop yet time and time again we have
innocent people asking about it when they can't get it to work. would it be
so hard to fix it and release a patch, I doubt it.

OSupdate 2.0 screws up the proftp.conf file and several other bugs (ignoring
the php issue)

my 2 cents
