I never thought I would have to wait to install a patch from sun because
it would crash the system, what are they microsoft?

Did you install the prerequisites. The Kernel is part
of that.

Many of us have in stalled the update without any problems. Have you
modified your system from a basic system?
I only had one little glitch. It had to do with resolv.conf.5.
Of course I had installed ALL the earlier patches. I guess a major
confusion is what exactly does an update becoming obsolete mean.
I install all obsolete updates in order. Example
If there were 10 updates.
update 10 requires 9, 8 and 5
It obsoletes 1,2,3,4,6, and 7
9 requires 6
8 requires 7
I would then take this to mean i could install 1 through 10 in order and
take the time (I do it this way)
or I could instal 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10
Some people take it they only have to install 5, 8, 9 and 10. These people
have problems.
