Email delivery fails for a domain that is "sub hosted" (not sure if this is
the correct term) for a client within that clients own domain space. So I
have a clients site which is working and receiving email
www.clients-site.com, they have a sub folder www.clients-site.com/directory
A new domain name www.directory.com points here and the web site works.
I've set up a subdomains.conf file for the sub-site as specified in several
posts including:
http://list.cobalt.com/pipermail/cobalt-users/2001-August/049003.html
I've changed virtusertable so
@www.directory.com goes to a user on clients-site.com
In Control Panel > Email >Relay for the following I've added
www.directory.com
www.directory.com is listed in Control Panel > Email > Host/Domain Aliases
They receive email fine on clients-site.com but email to @directory.com
rejects:
SMTP error from remote mailer after RCPT TO:<jane@xxxxxxxxxxxxx>:
host www.clients-site.com [xxx.xxx.xx.xx]:
550 5.7.1 <jane@xxxxxxxxxxxxx>... Relaying denied. Please check your mail
first.
A user doesn't exist for the domain, so can't check email! I just want all
email addressed to directory.com to go to a user on clients-site.com
DNS for directory.com is...
directory.com xxx.xxx.xx.xx //(same ip as www.clients-site.com)
www.directory.com xxx.xxx.xx.xx
directory.com mail is sent to the High priority mail server
www.clients-site.com
www.directory.com mail is sent to the High priority mail server
www.clients-site.com
I'm obviously missing something simple, but now can't see the wood for the
trees...any hints please?
Kind regards,
Liam
