Folks;
I've been playing around with self-signed certificates, and have seen a
completely reproducable situation. Every time I create a self-signed cert,
the admin pages (site or main, doesn't matter) take FOREVER to load through
https. When I say "slow," I don't mean a little slow, I mean between five and
ten MINUTES for the admin pages to load. They all seem to work perfectly,
they just load at a truly GLACIAL rate.
This situation is confined to the admin pages; any other page loads under
https just peachie, thanks (usual errors on insecure graphics not
withstanding, of course) with no appreciable slowdown in load time.
I can't figure out what's going on here...top shows the usually high idle
time and low load averages (there are only a couple of sites on this machine;
it's primarily used for mail), and px -A shows only httpd processes. Am I the
only one who sees the admin load time go to the blazes when using a
self-signed certificate? I mean, it isn't like I use the admin sections all
that much, but this makes them effectively unusable when there's a
self-signed cert on the server. (I have no idea what would happen with a
"real" cert, I don't have nor need one right now.)
