[cobalt-users] strange problem with .htaccess files (massive server slow down)

hi all!

i got my first cobalt raq4 server two weeks ago and most of the 
configuration i did worked fine....
anyway....i need apaches htaccess feature to password protect some 
site-content,
i turned it on in my access.conf (allowoverride all) and it worked fine on 
standard html sites.

but on my php sites i got massive problems: the site loading is extremely 
slow now! (browser loads for minutes and never finishes)
my php sites include many "php includes" - seems that this could be the 
problem.
i tried the standard phpinfo.php file to test if it is php itself that 
causes trouble, but the phpinfo page worked fast and fine.

anyone can help me?
