Get an old PC. Install Red Hat Linux 6.2 on it. Play. (Cobalt's linux
is based on Red Hat Linux 6.2).

Get a copy of OS-X and play with it. It's based on Free-BSD. Not quite
Linux, but close enough for an Apple-user <smile>.
