So how do these two sentences make sense together. Fortunately the
latter sentence isn't true. Your ptr record doesn't need a matching A
record. You just need a ptr record. It can point to any resovable
domain/subdomain name.

I used to recommend "DNS and BIND" but it's a bit arcane, so I now
recommend "Linux DNS Server Administration" published by Sybex.
