All rhetoric aside...
This is an artifact of Cobalt's software structure. Cobalt will revise
an RPM and wrap RPMs up into package files. If one bug fix is made in a
large RPM like ui-raq, then all ui-raq files will be updated, the RPM
database will reflect the new version, and your changes are lost...
The newer software architecture called Sausalito (on Qube 3) uses 400+
rpms, each minor UI component is made up of 8-10. When Cobalt patches
the Qube 3, they are able to correct module-specific code with minimal
impact on the rest of the system.
While Sausalito doesn't mean much to all you RaQ 3/4 users, Cobalt is
making more flexible distributions to avoid frustrations like these.
