If you have the OS restore CD for a Raq4R and have two identical drives
installed the restore CD will setup and install a RAQ3i or Raq4i as a RAQ4R.
I decided to try and upgrade a inexpensive refurbished RAQ3i to a 4R and
even went as far as swaping in a 450 MHz CPU in place of the 300 Mhz in the
Raq3i. Everything works fine (thinks it is a 4R) except that the unit still
runs at the 300 Mhz CPU even though it has the 450 MHz CPU. It must have
some kind of hardened configuration on the system board that preevents it
from running at the higher CPU speed. I did contact Cobalt support but of
course they would share this secret if in fact they themselves even knew how
to crank the CPU setting up.
If you figure out how to crank the CPU speed up on a Raq3i please share..
Jerry

I have not used a 4 restore CD period. My RaQ3 is still a RaQ3. Which
question does your response of NO belong to? Is the 4R different than
the 4i, I only see the 4i at www.webhostingsupply.com. I tried those
how-to's on RAID, they always loose me when they don't go into detail
about how to create the RAID on an already partitioned and active hard
drive. I always get left hanging on whether I'll lose the data if I
make the necessary changes to the fstab file OR if that is all that
needs to be done. Eventually I'll get around to just trying it on the
backup server RaQ3i. If I get this RaQ4 CD, then I can try both and
migrate over once it is done from my RaQ3.
