Hey Group,
Can't an RaQ3 be retstored with the RaQ4 OS restore CD
to bring it slightly up-to-date (obviously not talking
about hardware)? I asked my NOC today to pull one of
my RaQ3's and restore it with the RaQ4 restore CD, but
they claim it can't be done.
If so, why was rackshack able to take RaQ3's and load
it with the RaQ4 OS and sell them as RaQ4's? I also
thought the RaQ3 refub machines sold at
http://www.webhostsupply.com/ came with the RaQ4 OS
installed
http://www.webhostsupply.com/Qstore/p000010.htm
As I've previously stated:
RaQ3 out of the box in Dec 2000:
Apache/1.3.6 (Unix) mod_perl/1.21 mod_ssl/2.2.8
OpenSSL/0.9.2b
RaQ3 out of the box and updated with all Cobalt
patches in Dec 2001:
Apache/1.3.6 (Unix) mod_perl/1.21 mod_ssl/2.2.8
OpenSSL/0.9.2b
Is this truly not possible? If so, I'm going to have
the units pulled and sell them off on E-bay -they are
ridiculously outdated and *never* were given the same
upgrade/update treatment by Cobalt from the first day
out of the box as the RaQ4's. If the RaQ3's can't be
loaded with a more up-to-date OS, then they've served
their purpose and it's time to move on. Can a RaQ3 be
retored with the RaQ4 restore CD?
