There's an easier way on the Sun/Cobalt RaQs, and it "sticks" through
gui-initiated changes:
Look at the file /etc/named/records; it's the master-file for DNS on the
RaQ.
An "soa" record looks like this...

soa - internet-alberta.com
www.internet-canada.com::admin@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx:10800:3600:604800:86400

(that should all be one line, btw.)
It's the "86400" that's the ttl. So do a cut-and-paste on the file,
then go back to the gui and click on "save changes". The new TTLs will
"stick" through subsequent changes".
I shall leave the shell-script as an exercise to the user who made the
original request... or to someone else; I'm quite busy this am.
