Re: [cobalt-users] Sun announcing new line of Cobalts?

Actually I think you misread a bit of the release. They will be releasing new Sun systems with a full implementation of Linux around mid year. Point two was that there will be new Cobalt systems and it appears many choices. No timetable or models were released. Good to see Sun is actually going to continue with the models. I was told we would be happy with what gets released. I am still waiting for what I was teased about a couple of months ago.

Just wondering--they say the new models will come out mid-year.
Are we talking about low-power PIII's? Athlons? Durons? DDR? Etc...

I don't know, I kinda like Cobalt--the Raq2 saved my ass when too
much traffic forced me to get a dedicated server at approximately
the same time as the ad market started to bite it; since moved to
Raq3, now Raq4.

This list (and the archives via google) have been extremely helpful and I
know where everything is now (majored in English lit, so I rule my little
web
niche technically, even if the average Blockbuster clerk knows more about
PCs than me), but it's getting time to upgrade my site again... this launch
might
take too long, and, well, I understand Webmin, have configured Apache, etc.,
so I can make the move to no-name, Pentium-based Linux if need be.

On the other hand, the Sun support team has been pretty responsive, even
before I asked (neomail.pkg, that "headache" script for admin woes, etc.)...

Anyone heard anything? This is the press release:
