I've found the solution:
the situation was:
virtual site was www.domain.nl
domain was domain.nl
host was www
When an email alias @domain.nl was entered, the result was error
When an email alias @www.domain.nl was entered the result was ok, but mail to <someone>@domain.nl was bounced.
Before the update an catch all of @domain.nl was valid and mail would be routed.

Solution to the problem:
Enter a catch all adres @www.domain.nl in the user mail aliases
At the virtual site settings enter domain.nl in the mail server alias

Problem solved.
