Hi,
I like my new cobalt, but I don't like giving clients access to all the
possibilities of the site-admin interface. So my first thought was: try and
tweek these scripts or any permissions in it. I asked this list for tips,
but did not get any.
So now I have a new thought: in spite of the admin interface, I will use my
own simple interface for clients, just for creating pop-boxes: real virtual
users (i.e.: no mess in /etc/passwd).
My plan:
1. every site just has 1 user, who is the site-admin (needed for ftp-access
to /home/sites/site.com/web I guess).
2. Using some .htaccess stuff or something like it I block all access to the
site-admin interface for anyone but the server admin
3. I create some .cgi's for the site-admins to add/remove mailboxes
4. The cgi's use tool X or change file F (.procmailrc?) to make sure the
email for these aliases go into /home/sites/site.com/mail/
5. I change setting in qpopper so it will access these popboxes instead of
(or as well as) the /var/spool/mail boxes, using a different passwordscheme
from file Z.
My questions are ofcause simple:
- Is this plan worthwhile trying?
- Anydone done something like this on a RaQ (4i)
- What are the names of the tools and files X, F and Z.
Any hints would be appreciated.
Jelmer
