As rediculous as this may sound, anonymous FTP still
requires a user name and a password... if you have a user account on
the machine and if you use that user name and password you'll log on
as that user. To login "anonymously" you need to login as user
'anonymous' and use an arbitrary password. Custom dictates that the
password be your email address. Most FTP clients have defaults that
will satisfy the requirements for an anonymous login. Apparently
your's does not.
