Re: [cobalt-users] Sun Cobalt Part Number Confusion

Hi All,

Recently I requested a quote for several RAQ 4i's.

Here is what I found....

RAQ 4i 450mhz, 256mb, 20Gb CBT-R46GJGIM ~$1400

RAQ 4i 450mhz, 256mb, 20Gb R46GJ4GIU ~$2100

My question is, although the single line description of these two items is identical, its obvious by the part number that they are not the same. I have noticed that any item with the CBT- preceding it is typically hundreds of dollars less.

Does any one have an explanation for this? How about a complete accurate listing of SunCobalt's part number reference and descriptions??

I have been on both the Sun site and Cobalt site and cannot find any references to the distinctions I seek.

Thank you,

Scott

_________

The Cobalt has no reference to the CBT-R46GJGIM and neither does the sun site at this time
but it does have a CBT-R46GJ4GIU
http://www.cobalt.com/products/raq/howtobuy.html
What I do find is that is a CBT-R46GJ4GIM
It appears that the last letter is the country that the product is sold in
U - is United States
K - is United Kingdom
J - is Japan
E - is Europe
A - is Australia
M - is listed but with no country.

Where do you find the cheaper price?

It appears on newer models that there are only three models. A Japanese, one for the European Union and one for the US and Australia.
