Good <smile>. May I ask that you don't just copy an entire post and
then answer on the bottom as you did with the one I'm answering now.
That's worse than top-posting in my book. Try to quote important parts
of the message you're answering and interleave with your answer, like
I'm doing now...

That's actually doable, but only if you really know what you're doing...

Let me get this straight. Your PC is your personal computer, not your
RaQ? So you've got (at least) two computers on your network, and one of
them is at 64.135.71.133 and the other (your personal desktop PC) is
64.135.71.137?

Okay so far...

I don't see why I should have to forgive or not forgive your use of
Outlook. You're the one opening up your network to all the problems
Outlook users can experience just from getting an email <wry grin>.

I don't understand. A ptr record? You mean reverse DNS, right? Okay,
if he's giving out the IP#s, and NOT delegating authority to you to
reverse them yourself, then that's normal and right.

What isn't normal and right is this: You say your PC is 64.135.71.137.
Yet look at this:

> [admin admin]$ nslookup raq2.agilitysystems.com
> Server: joshua.nobaloney.net
> Address: 63.108.93.100
>
> Name: raq2.agilitysystems.com
> Addresses: 64.135.71.133, 64.135.71.137

How come your PC's IP# shows up as an IP# on your RaQ2?

And look at this:

> [admin admin]$ nslookup 64.135.71.137
> Server: joshua.nobaloney.net
> Address: 63.108.93.100
>

How come your PC's IP# reverses to your RaQ?

> (ie. ptr records from ....133 & ....137 to raq2.agilitysystmes.com)

WHY??? I thought 137 was your PC. If your DNS is this confused you're
going to have problems.

> Your info above indicates that neither of the ip addresses (..133 || ...137)

They seem to now (see examples), but they don't resolve properly. Not
if 137 is really your PC.

> Soooooo, what should I do to 'resolve' that ?

Either get a provider with clue, or learn and do your own DNS, or let a
DNS company do your DNS, and get your provider to delegate the reverse
DNS to them.

I agree, when the Cobalt RaQ operator and the upstream both have
problems understanding DNS, it's NOT going to be right <frown>.

The reason we went into DNS hosting is because we saw a need.
