This is increasingly a FAQ. One of these days I will get around to putting
together all the answers on a web page, but real work has so far intervened.
Short answer:
(1) Use sendmail's access database (/etc/mail/access on our Qube3, may be
different on your RaQ) to create a local blacklist of sites you've been
spammed from. See my post at
<http://list.cobalt.com/pipermail/cobalt-users/2001-November/056615.html> in
the archives for a blow-by-blow of that.
(2) Edit your sendmail.mc to use one or two of the useful DNS Blacklists to
block spam. See Charlie Summers' detailed instructions for voiding your
software warrantee by reconfiguring sendmail:
There are a wide range of blacklists available, and you should do some
reading to pick one with a policy you're comfortable with. You can also
combine lists; I use both inputs.orbz.org and relays.osirusoft.com. Find
more in news.admin.net-abuse.email; look for the FAQs.
