[cobalt-users] The Solution. Was Still Can't send mail to AOL HELP!

For the Sake of the Archives,
The Problem.
Email is refused by AOL either from my PC or from my RAQ2 server.

The Cause.
When aol received an email, aol would do a reverse dns lookup of the
ip that sent the email (in my case either the IP of my PC or the IP of my
virtual sites.)
The IP address was not resolving at all.
The helpful guys/gals on this group indicated that the IP did not resolve.

The Test.
Using www.network-tools.com I did a dns look up on my server IP address.
network-tools.com replied that the domain could not be found.
(other similar tools are at Analogx.com and ricis.com )

The Solution.
1. I contacted my provider, gave them a list of my domains -> IP addresses.
They entered ptr records on their system.
2. I removed all reverse (prt) records using the gui from my dns server.
3. Rebooted my server

Now a reverse dns lookup from outsite (network tools etc.) correctly locates
my domains
And..... And (for now) I can send email to aol successfully.

Thanks everyone for your help.
Especially Dan, Jeff et.al.
