By default IMAP is running so nothing special needs to be done server side.

For Outlook (at least Outlook Express), setup a new account as you normally
would, selecting IMAP instead of POP. After you fill out the required info.
and click "Finish", click "Properties" for the account, then the "IMAP" tab
and fill out the following:
root folder: mail
sent items path: sent-mail
drafts path: drafts
Note, that in OE you cannot convert a POP account to IMAP. You actually
have to delete the account through OE and then set it up again as IMAP.
Regular Outlook and NS will differ slightly, but the type of info. you need
to provide should be the same. FYI, you can chose a different location for
sent items, but sent-mail is the default for pine so if you have users who
use pine and an email client like OE and want the sent messages to be
accessible via both tools, it's advisable you set the sent items path to
sent-mail or edit the pine configuration so the sent items path it uses is
the same as that selected in your email client. In pine, type "S", "C",
then look for the following line to edit if you want to go that route:
default-saved-msg-folder = <No Value Set: using "saved-messages">
