[cobalt-users] Turn off IMAP?

I feel pretty stupid asking but I read everywhere that I should I turn off
IMAP. I have been searching for a good explanation as to why (i read that
its a security risk but don't know why). Saw Gerald's recommendations on how
to do so and am ready to implement those changes, but had to ask... why shut
it off? what does it affect? Will neomail be affected?
