I've been using mailing lists since the early 90s, and I've offered
commercial mailing list services since Late 1994 or early 1995. I don't
remember when I started using majordomo, but I do recall that it was the
first even semi-automated way to do lists; before that we just created
them using sendmail and managed them by hand.
There are much better solutions out there now, but if I switched, I'd
either have to support two platforms, or switch over a lot of customers.
So far, like a lot of other old unix hackers, I've stuck with majordomo.
