Unix is an internal method for communication between applications, so it looks like PostgresSQL is listening for internal connections from other applications
Thanks Jacob, did not know about the Unix "port" function.. That explains a lot.
I suggest typing 'man netstat' for more info
Been there done that but they don't give T-Shirts <g>... I knew what the other ports were doing, and have them either blocked or open.. Did get stumped on the Unix one and particularly the location of the program that was running on that port.. /tmp that threw me a bit.. Is it normal for linux to install stuff in tmp?
