Hello,
I am experiencing some kind of problem with the postgresql server on my
cobalt RaQ4. The symptoms are:
- I'm being mailed every 15 minutes with a message reading, "The PostgreSQL
server is down and cannot be restarted."
- When I try to access the Server Management screen on the cobalt web GUI, I
receive an Internal Server Error (in the main frame).
- When someone tries to use the cobalt web GUI for site management, they get
a Forbidden error (in the main frame).
- When I try to start postgresql via /etc/rc.d/init.d/postgresql start I'm
given an error message reading: "Setting up PostgreSQL: failed!"
- A series of error messages are appearing in the file, /var/log/postgresql:
020111.16:00:01.144 [7651] DEBUG: Data Base System is starting up at Fri Jan
11 16:00:01 2002

I have searched through some past discussions on various cobalt lists, and
there were several other people who were experiencing this problem. However,
I couldn't find a resolution anywhere. I don't know much more about
postgresql other than it is a database system that cobalt uses to store
various data. This probably explains why there are problems with loading the
admin and site management screens.
Any ideas as to how to resolve this would be greatly appreciated! My clients
are already becoming impatient...
Thanks!
Andrew
