Well I don't know if there is one specific answer. There are few different
ways that you could tackle the problem but it depends on your needs and
setup. Since I don't know your needs or setup, it would be best for you to
search the archives and come up with the method that best suits your needs.
I found this example using the keywords backup + CMU.

CMU is the Cobalt Migration Utility. Try searching for examples of Rsync
also.
