I´m not a friend of a Licence Term in a "free" World like Linux.
I´m able to restore RaQ4 on RaQ 3, update the 300 AMD K6-II to 500 AMD
K6-II,
but all on a development Maschine, for my own. I do want to know what
happens.
Linux is "free" and has to be free.
You can buy the Hardware from RaQ3 for 500 or 600 $.
Redhat Linux costs a hand full of $. All works fine.
Why I have to pay 1500 - 1800 $ for the same??
For the service and for a good, easy to use and tested system.
And all over the world a RaQ 3 is a RaQ3. It´s all the same.
You can get easy to use Updates and patches, a lot of Service in Soft-
and Hardware for
the price a RaQ costs.
Sun has to earn money with this products. They are not the Red Cross (as
we say in germany).
There are a lot of people working (and earning money tehmself) at the
development.
So they have to protect the work, they are doing, because when everybody
gets this product
without paying the price, ...you know what I mean.
So I think the Sun Licence is OK to protect the work of Sun, and to
protect us
against cheap copys.
For development, you can do what you want. I don´t think, that SUN will
do anything,
when you have a RaQ3 with RaQ4 Software an 500 MhZ K6-II at your
laboratory or somewhere alse.
But if you´ll sell this to a customer, it´s is not OK.
RaQ X is a worldwide default, and your customers can count on it.
You´ll not buy a RaQ 3 or 4 (Hardware and Software) you´ll buy safety
and
an advertising argument. The Hardware and Software you can buy
everywere, but
not a real RaQ or Qube.
