[cobalt-users] SSL Certificate Migration

Happy New Year everybody.

I have come across a question that I believe I know the answer to, but I
want to check with everyone else before I make too many plans and discover I
am wrong.

I currently am running a Cobalt RaQ4r (not that the model really matters). I
am thinking of setting up a second system, and moving some of the sites to
the second box. But, many of the sites have SSL certificates installed on
them.

As I have all the pieces of the SSL certificate in the certs directory, is
there anything that prevents me from moving that certificate to the other
machine? I am presuming that I can simply copy the certs directory from one
machine to another after setting up the new site, reboot the new machine,
and it will work...

Another thought is whether the system type matters... I.E. I decide to use a
home built Red Hat system or a RaQ3... If I move the cert from a RaQ4r,
would it still work? It seems to me that it should... Its my understanding
that the cert is just a "simple" encryption system, and I have all the
pieces of the encryption, so I should be in good shape.

Has anyone tried this and does it, in fact work, or is there something else
that is a unique piece of the puzzle - some link to the server itself? This
is also important for disaster recovery of sites, and I am trying to think
proactively.

Thanks, in advance, for your help.
