[cobalt-users] Email and some other Problems on Raq 4

Hey all,

lately I have been interested in learning a bit more on how to monitor the
email that goes to my raq4.  Most importantly I am interested in being able
to detect email errors and beaing able to fix them or at least realize why
something may be occuring.

I assume there a logs that I can look at for incoming and outgoing errors?
Right?  If there are logs, is there some kind of software that I can
purchase that will run a report on these email logs for me?

Here are two specififc errors that one of you may be familiar with:

1.  Someone tried sending me an email the other day and had it returned to
her with the following error:

The original message was received at Sun, 23 Dec 2001 05:35:12 -0500 (EST)
from root@localhost

   ----- The following addresses had permanent fatal errors -----
<name@xxxxxxxxxx>

   ----- Transcript of session follows -----
550 <name@xxxxxxxxxx>... Host unknown (Name server: domain.com: host not
found)

- She has since then sent me an email and I have received it with no
problem.  What could be causing an email to be rejected from a person and
then received at a later time from the same person and sent to the same
address?

2.  I also have log check installed on the raq, and I have been noticing
many entries of the following error:

issue MAIL/EXPN/VRFY/ETRN during connection to MTA

Other error I dont understand are:

Dec 27 10:05:20 www named[688]: sysquery: findns error (NXDOMAIN) on
ns1.domain.com?
Dec 27 10:07:15 www named[688]: sysquery: findns error (NXDOMAIN) on
NS1.DOMAIN.COM?
