While leaving out the MX records will work for most us with RaQs who
host mail on the same systems as we host the other services for the same
domain, in the real world this is not often the case.

We've got lots of customers who for various reasons (having to do with
database or FPX requirements) we host on W2kAS.  Their email is still
hosted on a linux box, and if not for the MX records, all their email
would be returned, as there is smtp daemon running on the W2kAS machine.
