[cobalt-users] purchasing a RAQ server in the USA

Hello
thanks to everybody who posted about this topics

Phil, thanks for the switchmode info. Beside this
I have found among the RAQ3 speicifcations:

- Power requirements: Input rating 100-240 V, 50/60 Hz
- Power consumption: 35 watts

So it seems that i could use it also here in Italy (220v/50 Hz), right?

...about ' a spare-part power supply from SunCobalt! ' do you mean if the
above woudln't work, right?
In this case do you know a specific link to check out at cobalt?

thanks again
Joe

Joe,
Since it is a switchmode power supply I actually doubt it would make a lot
of difference to it what the frequency actually was. The front end of a
switchmode takes the mains input and turns it into DC before anything else
even looks at it.
Most portable computers these days are quite happy moving about the world,
they only voltage sense ( cheap trick with a triac ) there is nothing
whatsoever in them circuitry wise for frequency.
On an older linear psu with a stonking great transformer it was an issue due
to differences in internal heat dissipation.

Or you could just get a spare-part power supply from SunCobalt! ;-)
