Check to see what user MySQL runs as. An easy way to do that is to check
who owns /usr/sbin/mysqld. If you're MySQL is configured to run as user
"mysql" you should "su - mysql" first. If not, replace "mysql" with the
appropriate user, then follow the instructions you have.
