If you guys aren't using the CMU utility to
backup/restore your systems (when needed), and you're
playing with that silly backup feature inside the GUI,
then you might want to look here for directions on how
to get those .raq backups restored when need be...
Actually, I tried to paste the URL to the SUN/Cobalt
answer to this question from their web site, but the
URL is about as long (and as silly) as the backup
feature inside their products. So.... here's my cut
and paste version.
-----------------------
The usage of this article assumes an intermediate or
better knowledge of Linux/UNIX
In order to manually restore a backup on a RaQ3 or
RaQ4, you will need to get two scripts: meta-verify.pl
and stripheader.pl
ftp://ftp.cobaltnet.com/pub/experimental/stripheader-raq3-raq4.pl
ftp://ftp.cobaltnet.com/pub/users/duncan/raq3/meta-verify.pl
After obtaining the scripts, upload the backup file to
/home/tmp using an ftp client.
Remember the transfer the file as binary (ascii will
not work). Also, upload striphead.pl and
meta-verify.pl as ascii files and put them in
/home/tmp.
Telnet to the RaQ and login using the admin username
and password.
su - and enter the admin password again.
cd /home/tmp
chmod 700 meta-verify.pl stripheader.pl
./stripheader.pl name of backup file
When the prompt returns, you will see a out.tar.gz
file in the directory: type tar -zxvPpf out.tar.gz.
This will decompress the backup file and place them in
their respective directories.
./meta-verify.pl -si
Answer yes to all questions
./meta-verify.pl -sa
Answer yes to all questions
./meta-verify.pl -ui
Answer yes to all questions
./meta-verify.pl -ua
Answer yes to all questions
swatch
rm out.tar.gz
rm *.raq
rm meta-verify.pl stripheader.pl
This will fully restore your system using the backup
that you provided, update the internal database and
then remove all the files and scripts used to restore.
If you chose to keep the scripts, move them to
/home/sites/home/users/admin before deleting files.
Good Luck!
Barbara
