RE: [cobalt-users] How to set up mailbox? View from outlook? Raq 3

Hi Robert.

The only email I get with my domain is (I am super user, not just a client) is forwarded mail. I set up a new 'user' with my domain, we set up aliases

I want to learn how to set up the mail on my domain so I can read/write WITH my domain mail, NOT just read the forwarded mail

SO instead of dave@xxxxxxxxxx going to hotmail
I want a mailbox to connect to like a normal damn isp
so I can read dave@domain and send FROM dave@domain

I can't use outlook, I get errors when I try. (Aol service, is that why?)

I am not explaining this right? I hope I am

I want also to set this up for users

so you can view your domain email from outlook, NOT just depend on stupid aliases

That's my goal in life
Did this help? Lol

Thanks, I am so frustrated with no knowing how to do this.

Subject: [cobalt-users] How to set up mailbox? View from outlook? Raq 3

Hello, the raq 3 does nothing to ease the process of setting up a mailbox

I guess I'm confused - setting up the mailbox using the graphical interface
is extremely easy, select users then new or are you trying to do something
different - if so, a little more explanation and I'll try to help - I just
set ours up and I'm not an expert, but I'll try.

I have a domain with forwarding with aliases

that's just not acceptable. The linux pdf files I read are throwing me off
and I can't find help anywhere on this and I'd love an answer, not a theory
if possible.

Huh - how is your DNS record configured - provide an domain name so I can do
whois or if you have your dns setup handy I'll take a look.

How does one *set up, not just offer the option to have* a mailbox for their
domain?

I'm sorry - I don't understand the question. To setup a mailbox select user
and groups from the gui, then user list and add.

And how to receive/send from that mailbox in outlook?

Configure outlook to check for email on the cube by selecting Tools/Services (if outlook is setup in the corportate mode - if internet email mode, select
Tools/Accounts). Configure your cube settings by editing your account (or
creating a new account/service) to point to the Qube (I suggest using the
internal ip address of the qube rather than the name) then enter the user
name and password.

And what are the settings?
mail.domain.com
smtp.domain.com?

Where are you looking at these settings - I don't remember where that is
configured on the qube.

If I'm missing what you are trying to do, I apologize - a bit more
information and I'll try to help. The qube really is a very nice box and
much simpler (in my opinion) to configure than an exchange server or the
equivalent.

Venting is cool - we all vent.

Cheers

Robert

?

Thanks. We are stumped and it's really frustrating
Do we go in the control panel, configure a dsn setting for a domain? How to
create this mx record? I just don't get it and for 2001, to have difficulty
setting up a mailbox, that really is pathetic. I feel ashamed lol

What to do?

Thanks again for your time, I just had to vent
