No, you should be able to use that version with it. The PNG image format is
compatible with the recent GD libraries, while the GIF format was compatible
with the older GD libraries. The lack of GIF support in the recent GD
libraries is due to Unisys' patent of the LZW compression algorithm which GD
used.
