[cobalt-users] Webalizer Woes - Webalizer 1.30-04-7GIF

Hi Yah,

Just updated one of our RaQ 3's with the latest version of webalizer from
pkg.nl.cobalt.com.

Going through the logs it deleted all prior versions on installation and on
checking after installation I noticed the addition of webalizer.pl &
webalizer.cron to the /etc/cron.daily folder - the previous owners only had
a small script in their calling the webalizer.pl.

Anyway did that early yesterday morning and this morning I get an email from
cron with the following:-

Error: Unable to restore run data (99)
webalizer: error in loading shared libraries: webalizer: undefined symbol:
gdImageGif
webalizer: error in loading shared libraries: webalizer: undefined symbol:
gdImageGif...goes on
Warning: Truncating oversized request field
Warning: Truncating oversized request field...goes on

Reading through the FAQ's at yahoo's webalizer digest I noticed that the
truncating bit is nothing to worry about, but I'm a bit concerned that the
stats is totally screwed now. I checked several site this morning - cron has
run the script and I've even run the script manually but the stats are not
working now. The stats showing are those of the day prior to the update.

I'm starting to pull my hair out with this stats software - saying that the
previous box owners had 3 different versions of webalizer on at one time.
Does anyone know why I'd be getting a shared libraries error, would the
update have deleted anything from the server that this version requires?

PS Any other stats programs on the market that are able to be installed
through the GUI and work straight off - or is that like wishing to win the
lottery :>
