[cobalt-users] How to tell if raq 3 can support rpm?

Hello. I know how to compile php from source and i am about to

But I have a raq 3, I saw rpm's on a site that said "For redhat 6.1" ... etc...but people tell me I can run rpm's on my raq 3

How do I tell if this is the case? If they'd be compatible

And if I install php by rpm, I presume I must install the php/mysql rpm and the php/gd image library rpm first before PHP itself (rpm) so I can get them to work?

Would the rpm's make them compatible and KEEP my mysql settings and not delete them ?

Is it really so easy? If so, how to tell WHICH rpm's I CAN run on my raq 3 when I thought rpm = red hat only?

Thanks

Not going to attempt to fix your setup but there are extensive FAQ's on PHP4.0.6 on RAQ3's.

http://www.uk2raq.com/raqfaq/raqfaqshow.php?faq=43

I'm sure others will have alternate FAQ's or suggestions.
