Why would you do a reboot after adding a new user via the GUI?
If you are using dhcp then the reboot could result in an IP change. To
what are you connecting that is acting as a dhcp server for the Qube?

The Qube2 has two interfaces (eth0 and eth1). Are you sure you are
looking at the ip address connected to the internet?

Me thinks you need to resolve what it is you are looking at rather than
starting over.
