FTP = not secure. :)

You can use rsync. Refer to the archive for instructions on the setup. If
you are hosting multiple sites on that box, then I would advise you not to
make a backup there. Evaluate the cost of providing the service against
the cost of the customer suing you for a security lapse. There are times
when we should know to say no. :)
