Well, it only asks for the password if I do it via UID: postgres.
When I try to start it as root, it simply fails and says:
root@web-raq05:/etc/cobalt# /etc/rc.d/init.d/postgresql start
Setting up PostgreSQL: failed!
root@web-raq05:/etc/cobalt# tail /var/log/postgresql

Startup failed - abort
