Dan, the key is "... on your network as well ..."  - and the thread is called "Is a
firewall necessary with a RaQ" (it might be more accurate to rename it to "Is a firewall
necessary on a RaQ", but that's another story).  

Our friend reckons it is an "absolute necessity" if one has Windows servers on the same
network as the RaQ.  How much more on-topic do you want the reply to be?  Or is the W-word
forbidden on this list?
