'The backup and restore does not work properly. It did not work on the Raq2 or the 3 or even the 4. They did, however, get it to work on the Cube 3, so it is possible. Every time I ask about this I get told that they are working on it and it will be fixed soon. This has been said for nearly a year.
If they can not get it to work, they should bring out a patch which removes the buttons. I have clients who, despite being told, still rely on it and then come crying to me when they can't restore files correctly.
Bits of it I am sure do work but it is not worth relying on.One fantastic tool Cobalt came out with was the Staqware. this was software to mirror a Raq 3 or 4 in real time and an automatic fail over if the master machine failed. However, in Sun's wisdom they dropped the product. Why?????
It does require 2 identical servers but it does work. How about making it public domain?
