One more cent, there is an old version of zip (not gzip) floating around
that has a bug in it , and will create archive files that only it can
read. (on linux/unix)
winzip has, for some time been perfectly capable of reading tgz and gz
files, and they are much more portable....
If you MUST create .ZIP files, use a recent version....
ps: rar is NOT free software , it's carries a $35/machine licence fee -/
It comes with a 40 day selfdestruct ;)
