Might not be what you're looking for,
but how about having the backup RAQ as your secondary dns, if you set it up
right then as long as you do some kind of sync every now and again(search
the archives, there was a backup script for this kind of problem before) ,
if say you rebooted the main server/hard drive went/anything that means the
main server doesn't respond, the secondary server would take over at that
point, of course both servers would need to be on the network and online
etc,
and its probably not really what you're looking for, but it might be a
thought if all else fails.
just not needing to worry quite so much if the main server gets screwed up
would be enough for me, :: sigh :: if only there were time and resources.
