My God guys....if you believe that, I have a bridge in Brooklyn that I'd
*really* like to sell you.
Prime rule of computing #1: Heat is your enemy. Where there are
electronic components running, there is heat. It's an immuutable law of
nature....it is i.n.v.i.o.l.a.t.e.
It's not just the CPU, but the hard drive, power supply, memory sticks
(yes, they too generate heat)...this is all cumulative withing the RAQ
case, and the higher temperature you have inside the RAQ the shorter the
life of all components.
Please...for your own sake guys....get fans for your units. Replace any
that are noisy or itermittent in operation. Why are they there to begin
with???? ask yourself that important question. If Cobalt (now
Sun/Cobalt) theought that they were absolutely uneccessary, there
wouldn't be a fan grill (grille?) in the case.
Airflow within a server (or PC, in this instance there is no
distinction) is *vital* I just cannot stress this enough.
