Hi Mike,
Another difference is sometimes in the way that either your uplink or
RIPE/ARIN/etc assign an IP range to you. Typically if you continue
requesting large numbers of IP addresses they will request you to give a
reason for the large usage, since IP addresses are becoming more scarce
(only a finite number till IPV6 gets ahold).
If you don't really need separate IP addresses in cases other than what
Bruce and Gerald have mentioned then you'll find things easier with just
a single IP address for blocks of sites, and not have to go begging to
your uplink for more IP addresses as your customer base grows.
