Many thanks to everyone who responded. I've tried all suggestions and still
no diff. Either I'm doing something stupid, or there's something else we
don't know yet.

Any further ideas will be gratefully and hungrily latched upon and tried.

Well my input is...although I haven't noticed if this was presented or not...Windoze sets IE with a default error page that will just show it's own error page instead of the real one...you can turn this off if you want or you can just use Macintosh or Nix since the only thing Windoze is good for is surfing porn! ;-)
