Re: [cobalt-users] Webalizer 1.30 bug?

From: Jeff Lovell <jlovell@xxxxxxx>

I wanted to bring up a point of order here.

Lately it seems that much of the traffic generated from this list is
dealing with the configuration and the daily runnings of Webalizer.
And, I think that it is great that users are working together to work
with 3rd party packages on Sun Cobalt hardware. I just wanted to point
some of you to the Webalizer group on groups.yahoo, as it might be
better suited to answer some of these Webalizer-specific questions.

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/webalizer/

Please feel free to discuss issues pertaining directly to the Sun Cobalt
integration of Webalizer, I don't want to discourage those types of
threads, but if the issue is more direct with configuring Webalizer and
the discussion of bugs, please attempt to direct those to the above
mentioned mailing-list.

With all due respect to the point of order Jeff, I'd like to point out that most of us are trying to make a program work that was offered on the .pkg site.

Many of us have grown to depend on reliable stats for our servers and a bug has been discovered in the program. Any discussions that involve outside sourcing on this would appear to be due to there not being a workable .pkg available on the pkg.cobalt.com site to update the webalizer we are using.

As you know, our boxes are somewhat quirky when compared to standard linix boxes, I had a conversation with the developer of the webalizer and his suggestion was to deal with it here. Which I think is a very good idea, since the solution to our problems will be, at least, somewhat Cobalt specific.

Asking us to go somewhere else to solve this seems a bit off base to me.

It appeared that we were hot on the trail of a solution for those of us who need stats reports and need them as soon as possible. Since your message published yesterday, I note that all conversation on this subject seems to have been killed, including my original response to your message.

I for one would like to see this discussion continue until we have a universally acceptable solution for those of us using the cobalt boxes and who installed the .pkg file from the cobalt site.

A replacement pkg file on the site with the patch installed would be a very good way to stop this message thread.

Thank You
Wayne Sagar
